Other Information
The Ohio Dept of Transportation aerial photo archives were used to locate this barn.
Photo 2. The barn appears to be white; however, under magnification the Mail Pouch sign is barely visible, bleeding through the white overpaint. The date of the photo is 1966 indicating that the Mail Pouch signs were originally painted on the barn in the 1950's or perhaps very early 1960's.
Photos 1 & 9 are good views showing the Baltimore Clothing Company sign on the southeast side of the barn.
Photo 12 is a Feb. 1952 aerial view showing that, at that date, Shoemaker Rd (TR-217B) was US-36. US-36 was subsequently rerouted to interface with I-77 which was constructed in 1965. At that time the former section of US-36 was renamed to Shoemaker Rd.
Photo 11 is a magnified and rotated view from Photo 13 to show the southwest end of the barn and the Mail Pouch sign which is visible.
Photo 13 aerial photo the Mail Pouch barn is circled in yellow. The house on the site and the adjacent garage, which are visible in Photos 2-7 are still existing. Photo 14 (Google satellite image) the red pin is where the Mail Pouch barns was once located. This pin was used to determine the coordinates for the barn. The address noted is the address of the house on the site.
Photos 1-9 are views of the northeast end of the barn.
Photos 10 & 11 are views of the southwest end of the barn.
Where to find it
*GONE* (fallen and site cleared) Along the northwest side of Shoemaker Rd (TR-217B) west of the intersection with US-36 by 0.4 mile. The barn was on the right side of Shoemaker Rd. headed west from US-36. Mail Pouch sign on the southwest end and on the northeast end. (Baltimore Clothing Company sign on the southeast side). Black Backgrounds.
