Other Information

Photo 2: The 1945 view was taken to show the projected path of the Lake Erie - Ohio River Canal and the Grand River Dam. The photograph was used to document the proposed path the canal would follow and showed how the local area and people would be affected. If the project had been built, the town of Rock Creek would have had to be abandoned due to the dam and resulting lake. The impact would have dramatically affected the area and the total project had questionable financial benefits and the project was eventually abandoned thus preserving a unique and beautiful Mail Pouch sign.

Where to find it

Along the east side of N. Main Street (OH-45) north of Rock Creek by about 1.0 mile. The barn is on the right side of OH-45 headed north. The Mail Pouch sign faces south. One end. Red Background.
