Other Information

Photos 4 & 5 are early views of the building with the Mail Pouch sign. The sign (original 1907 repainted Ca. 1920's) was on the west side of the Grafton Grocery Co. building. The original building had a roof sloping from the front (along Latrobe St.) to the rear along the RR tracks. Subsequent to these photos the buildings roof was leveled by raising the south wall along the RR tracks. The slope of the old roof is clearly visible along the west wall in Photos 1-3. The building was probably repurposed and at the time the large rectangular vent stack (seen in Photos 1-3) was probably added.

RJR - R. J.Reynolds Co. After the turn of the century, Reynolds Tobacco produced one-fourth of the nation's flat plug chewing tobacco.

The building, with the rectangular stack and the sloped roof addition along the east wall, is clearly visible in Historic Aerials' imagery (1982). The distance measurement tool was used to obtain the decimal coordinates. The coordinates were input to the Google map program and the red pin on Photo 7 is the location where the building once stood.

Photo 6 is a view from Latrobe St. looking in toward the west side of the building.
Where to find it

*GONE* (razed and removed) Along the south side of Latrobe St., in Grafton, east of intersection with Beech St. by about 200'.
