Other Information
The building with the Mail Pouch sign is cearly visible in Historic Aerials' imagery (1957). The distance measurement tool was used to obtain the decimal coordinates for the building. The coordinates were input to the google map program and the red pin on Photo 2 is the location where the buidling once stood.
Photo 1 is an enlarged inset view from Photo 2. In Photo 2 MPS 48-54-14 is circled in yellow; and, MPS 48-54-13 is circled in red.
Over the years the repaints of the Mail Pouch sign has changed in format.
Photo 5 is a 1910 view of the Wright Brothers aircraft over the city.
Photos 6-8 are views taken during the January 1913 flood. Photo 7 is a view looking up the Little Kanawha River from the old Marrtown Bridge (now gone).
Photo 9 is a Google street view taken in Sept. 2019 looking in at the site of the building.
