Other Information

Note in Photo 1 the sign that states Al Morh's Place. Checked the 1940 census and it states that Bernard Albert "Al" Mohr resides at 701 Ottawa Ave, Defiance, Ohio.

Photo 3 the pin on the map is on the 701 Ottawa Ave address. The building still remaining in MPB 35-20-02 Photo 5 is circled in lime in Photo 3.

Photo 3 which is an April 1947 Ohio Dept of Transportation aerial photo clearly shows the building without the house attachment to the north subsequently added and shown in Photo 4. In Photo 3 the Mail Pouch building is circled in yellow and the building still remaining in MPB 35-20-02 Photo 5 is crcled in lime. The narrow horizontal wooden siding and the original configuration of the building (without the house addition on the north side) indicates that this was probably a restaurant or bar and would fit the criteria of being 'Al Mohr's Place'. In addtion the building location along one of Defiance's main Avenues would give the Mail Pouch sign maximum exposure.
Where to find it

Along the southeast side of Ottawa Ave. (OH-15) just southwest of the rail road tracks. One side. Unusual Mail Pouch sign.
