Other Information

New entry submitted to the website by Joe Calvert. He got us in touch with Amy McCurry who provided the following information. Reference Photo 3 the yellow outline around the wall that the Mail Pouch sign is located on. This sign faces south. Originally a two story masonry building was erected with the Mail Pouch sign on the exterior south wall. Subsequently new construction adjacent to the original building used the older existing south exterior wall as a common wall. There was a fire in the older building, in 1974, and subsequently the upper floor of that building was razed. Amy McCurry's husband was doing demolition in the existing second floor of 115 N. Harrison St and uncovered the old Mail Pouch sign (Photo 1).

As part of the renovation the portion of the Mail Pouch sign that has been uncovered will be preserved.
