Other Information

The post card view is a new find and was submitted to the Mail Pouch Facebook page by Joseph Hunter, in August 2025.

Photo 1 is an enlarged inset view from Photo 2.

The location is approximate and was based on researching the earliest Historic Aerials' imagery available. (1955 &56). The church toward the middle of the postcard view (Photo 2) with the tall spire, is the First Presbyterian Church and the only building in the Post card view that appears to be still existing. The church was located in the Historic Aerials' imagery and an estimation made as to where the building with the Mail Pouch sign was located. The distance measurement tool was used to obtain the decimal coordinates for the location The coordiinates were input to the Google map program and the red pin on Photo 3 is the estimated location where the building was once located.

In the future if additional information can be located the estimated location can be revised. Historical photos of Columbus, Indiana were searched to try to get additional information for the research; however, nothing pertinent was found.
Where to find it

*GONE* (razed and removed) Along the east side of Washington St. north of the 3rd St. (IN-46) intersection, in Columbus, by 0.1 mile. The building was on the right side of Washington St. headed north from 3rd St. The Mail Pouch sign faced south. One side. Black backlground.
