Other Information

Photo 9 is an enlarged inset view from Photo 10. The barn is visible in the view and the word 'CHEW' can be seen.

The photos are out of date sequence. The views taken by Barbara Warnecke are better photos and provide more detail than Larry Zinn's photos.

Photo 11 is a 2008 view looking from US 19 toward the barn location. The barn was about 140' from the US 19 hairpin turn and if the foliage was minimal the Mail Pouch sign should have been visible. Apparently Larry Zinn and Barbara Warnecke did not have any problem seeing the Mail Pouch sign!

Historic Aerials imagery (1982) was used to locate this barn. The details in Photo 10 were used to positively identify the location of the barn. The distance measurement tool was used which provided the decimal coordinates centered on the barn The decimal coordinates we input to the Google map program and the red pin, on Photo 12, is the location where the barn was once located. This pin was used to determine the address and provide the site location directions. The buildings on the site have all been razed and remove and the site is cleared. The barn would have been visible from the US-19 hair pin turn. Today, because of tree and shrub growth, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to see the barn from US-19. The Historic Aerials' imagery does not have views for every year. What is available shows that the barn was still existing in 1993; however, in the next available aerial imagery, in 2004, the barn is gone and the site is cleared.
Where to find it

*GONE* (razed and removed) US Rt. 19 (Mt. Morris Rd.) southeast of PA Rt. 21 (E. Roy Furman Hwy.) intersection, in Morrisville, by 7.0 miles. The barn was on the right side of the highway (in the hairpin turn) headed south. The Mail Pouch sign faced east. One end. Black background.
