Other Information

The barn was discovered while searching the Ohio Dept. of Transportation aerial photo archives, looking for another barn. The barn was razed and removed in the mid to late 1960s to allow for the construction of the OH-78 bypass around Summerfield.

Photos 1 & 2 are views of the ends of the barn showing the Mail Pouch sign on each end. These photos have been rotated 180° from the map postition for a better view of the signs. Photo 1 is a view of the east end of the barn and Photo 2 is a view of the west end of the barn.

Photo 3 is a view of the road system around Summerfield in Mar. 1963. The barn is circled in yellow.

Photo 4 is a Google satellite image. In the image the 'lime' color represents the roads prior to the bypass construction. The X's represent portions of the new roads which did not exist back in 1963. The yellow circle is the approximate location of the barn.

Photo 5 is an April 1975 view of the area showing the bypass construction work had been completed by that date.
Where to find it

*GONE* (razed and removed to allow for new road construction) Along the southeast side of Woodsfield Rd (OH-78) just southeast of the Main St. intersection (Summerfield). There was a Mail Pouch sign on each end of the barn . Black backgrounds.
