The Ohio Dept. of Transportation aerial photo archives were used to determine the location of this barn.
Photo 3 is an enlarged view of the barn taken from Photo 4. The Mail Pouch sign is clearly seen on the east side of the barn.
Photo 4 is used to compare to Photo 5 (Google satellite image). The Mail Pouch barn is circled in yellow in Photo 4. The location of the barn is noted by the red pin in Photo 5. The house, which is still existing is circled in red in Photos 4 and 5 for location coordination.
Photo 6 is a color aerial view of the barn taken in September 1994.Deterioration of the roof is noted.
Photo 7 is a March 1996 aerial view of the barn. The Mail Pouch sign is visible. Note the continued deterioration of the roof. This is the last ODOT photo of this barn. Aerial photos in the archive dated in the 2000's show the barn is gone and the site cleared.
Note in Photos 6 & 7 the white section of roofing on the southern leading edge of the barn roof which is clearly noted in Photos 1 & 2.
The tiny village of Fairview, to the left of this barn is divided between the counties of Belmont and Guernsey!
Where to find it
*GONE* (razed and removed) Along the north side of Old National Rd (CR-40A), west of the intersection with Sewellsville Rd (OH-800) by 0.3 mile. The barn was on the right side of the road headed west from OH-800. The Mail Pouch sign was on the east side of the barn. One side. Black background.
