Other Information

Photo 1 Tom Plimpton (1983).

Photos 1 & 2 are Aerial Vintage photos showing the barn, at the left in each image. Unfortunately neither of the photos view the side of the barn with the Mail Pouch sign.

Tom Plimpton's location information stated IN-60 east of Salem. The Historic Aerials' imagery program was used to study the IN-60 route east of Salem and the barn was located and the distance measurement tool used to obtain the decimal coordinates of the barn. The coordinates were input to the Google map program and the red pin on Photo 6 is the location where the barn once stood. The Historic imagery shows the barn up until 2012. 2014 imagery indicates that the barn had been razed and removed by that date.

Photo 4 is a 2007 Google street view looking in at the barn. The Mail Pouch sign appears to have been painted over by that date. Photo 5 is a 2023 Google street view looking in at the site which has been cleared of all buildings showing in Photos 2 & 3.
Where to find it

*GONE* (razed and removed) Along the northeast side of IN-60 southeast of the Salem By-Pass intersection (just southeast of of Salem) by 1.2 miles. The barn was on the left side of IN-60 headed southeast from Salem. The Mail Pouch sign faced southeast. One side. Red background.
