This barn has been relocated from its original position when Grayson Lake was formed. Grayson Lake is a 1,500-acre reservoir in Carter and Elliott counties in Kentucky. It was created by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1968 by impounding the Little Sandy River with the Grayson Dam, an earthen structure 120 feet high, creating a maximum capacity of 118,990 acre-feet. The barn in its original location is clearly shown in Historic Aerials' imagry dated 1961. The distance measurement tool was used to obtain the decimal coordinates of the original location. The coordinates were input to the Google map program and the red pin on Photo 5 (Google satellite image) is the location where the Mail Pouch barn originally stood. KY-7 was relocated at the time of the creation of the lake. A location for the barn would originally read. "Along the northwest side of KY-7 southwest of the Carter/Elliott Co. Line by 0.14 mile. The barn was on the right side of KY-7 headed southwest from the County Line. The Mail Pouch sign faced southwest". When the barn was relocated the boards with the Mail Pouch sign were mixed up.
