Other Information
The designation for this entry MPB 35-20-02 covers both barns (now gone) in the 1908 aerial view of Defiance, Ohio. The view shows signs on barn ends, side and roof. It is not possible to tell if the opposite sides, ends or roofs are also painted. This is a unique photograph that needs to be included in the collection.
Photo 1 is an enlarged inset view from Photo 2.
The Ohio Dept. of Transportation aerial photo archives have been used to determine where these barns once stood. In Photo 3 (Apr. 1947) photo the yellow circle encloses the buildings in Photo 1. The building at the corner still remains and is shown in Photo 5. By the 1947 date, the two barns have been razed and removed and there are other changes to the site. In Photo 4 (a current 2022 satellite image) the yellow circle is provided to coordinate with Photo 3.
In photo 1 there is a house across Hopkins St from the site. In Photo 5 the house still remains and is clearly shown at the left in Photo 5.
The address and coordinates below are centered on the remaining building (see Photo 5) on the site from the 1908 photo.
Where to find it *GONE* The site in Photos 1 &2 is located at the southeast corner of the Ottawa Ave & Hopkins St intersection, in Defiance. Two barns. Multiple MP signs on the roofs, ends and sides. Black.
