Other Information
This new Mail Pouch barn entry was submitted to the website by Jay Smink.
The barn with its distinctive features and the house and the RR tracks are clearly visible in Historic Aerials' imagery dated 1946 & 1955. The distance measurement tool was used to obtain the decimal coordinates for the barn. The coordinates were input to the Google map program and the red pin on Photo 4 is the location where the Mail Pouch barn was once located.
Original map shows that US-422 ran in it's existing location along the north side of the Mail Pouch barn. Subsequently after the RR tracks were removed US-422 split just west of the barn site and ran along the south side of the barn site in the location of the old RR tracks. Photos 3 is a view looking in at the loction where the Mail Pouch barn once stood.
Historic Aerials' imagery map dated 1958 shows all the buildings had been razed and the site cleared by that date.
Where to find it *GONE* Along the south side of the original US-422 route just east of the intersection with Old Airport Rd. The Mail Pouch barn was on the south side of US-422 headed east. The Mail Pouch sign faced east. One end. Black Background.
