Other Information
The barn is clearly visible in Historic Aerials' imagery (1971). The distance measurement tool was used to obtain the decimal coordinates for the Mail Pouch barn. The coordinates were input to the Google map program and the red pin on Photo 10 is the exact location where the Mail Pouch barn once stood. The pin was used to determine the address for the entry.
Note the location is 5.5 miles from the High St. intersection, in Romney. The location information on the back of Lonnie Schnauffer's photo states "US-50 west of Romney by about 5.8 miles.
Photo 4 is an enlarged inset view from Photo5. In Photo 4 only the roof of the Mail Pouch barn is visible. It is circled in yellow. Also, the mobile home (shown in Photo 3 with the red stripe) is circled in red.
In Photo 7 the Mail Pouch barn is circled in yellow.
Photo 9 is a view from Northwestern Pike looking in at the site.
Where to find it *GONE* (fallen and removed) Along the north side of Northwestern Turnpike (WV-28/US-50) west of High St. intersection, in Romney, by about 5.5 miles. East of the intersection with US-220, in Junction by 1.5 miles. The barn was on the right side of the highway headed west from Romney. The Mail Pouch sign faced west. One end. Black background.
