Other Information

Elmer Napier talked to the original owner's grandson and got the following history of  the barn:
The barn was built around 1925 and was constructed of oak and native chestnut. It was last painted, by Mr. Zimmerman, in 1938. His grandfather was given $2.00 and a box of scrap tobacco. It is believed that this is the last barn painted by Mr. Zimmerman while he was still in Mail Pouch's employ.

The barn is clearly visible in Historic Aerials' imagery (1952-59). In those views the barn and the Mail Pouch sign would have been clearly visible from 8th St (CH-11). There were no houses in those views other than the original farmhouse on the site.

In the 2007 view (Photo 1) the Mail Pouch sign was barely visible. It is possible that at the date of this update (Jan. 2024) tthe Mail Pouch sign may have completely faded away.
Where to find it

Along the southeast side of 8th St. Rd. (CH-11), in Huntington, east of WV-152 (5th St, Rd.) by about 1.0 mile. The barn is on the right side of the street headed northeast. The barn is behind two house and another structure and is very difficult to see. The Mail Pouch sign faces southwest. One end. Black background. Greatly faded.
