Other Information

in Photos 1 & 2 the word 'CHEW', the letter 'H' (at the right side of the barn), and very faint 'TREAT YOURSELF TO THE BEST' at the bottom are visible. There is a wooden rectangular frame on the end of the barn and it appears that there was a sign of some sort painted over the Mail Pouch sign. In Photo 3 which is an Ohio Dept of Transportation aerial view (dated Jan. 25, 1960) there is clearly a white rectangle on the end of the barn which looks very much like the rectangular frame seen in Photos 1 & 2. This would mean that the original Mail Pouch sign would have been pre-1960. Because of the faintness of the remaining Mail Pouch letters it is not possible to determine if this was an original Black Background sign or Red Background.

Ohio Dept. of Transportation aerial photo archives from 1940 through 1990 were searched in addition to all of the aerial photos on the Vintage Aerial site for Lake county, Ohio.
Where to find it

*GONE* (painted over and now apparently new vertical siding) US Rt 20 (N. Ridge Rd.) west of the Lake Co./Ashtabula Co. line by 2.0 miles. The barn is on the left side of the highway headed west. The Mail Pouch sign faced west. One end.
